Chuck is a long time loyal member of the website and has been consistent with his online lessons as well as seeing me for a few in -person lessons as well. His swing has progressed consistently, and if he has any tendency it is to over-do the suggestions I make, which is really a good thing, as dialing back an overdone change is easier than correcting a stubborn inability to make any change at all. Here I take issue with Chuck’s rhythm and tempo, suggesting that he go back over my video on how to use the metronome for the full swing and that he try to make his transition more continuous. Next I focus on the large lateral movement of his hips and ask him to aim his hip drive more sharply to the left instead of so much toward the target. If Chuck can make his swing more fluid in transition by making his hip movement more continuous and add rotation by clearing the left hip faster I feel like he will make a quantum leap with his ball striking.
