Randall demonstrates nice motion and sequence but could use some improvement in his takeaway and how he moves his hips in the downswing. I’d like to see Randall work on getting his clubhead to move more upward as he takes it back, instead of swinging it low to the ground and getting his hands and arms deep behind him in the backswing. The general idea is to feel the swing more straight back and in front of him so that by P3 his hands are more in front of his chest. Another suggestion would be for Randall to maintain more flex in his right leg in the backswing so that it wouldn’t have as much of a tendency to push back toward the ball in the downswing. Since Randall is working inside on a mat and not on the grass where he can stick shafts in the ground, I suggest that he use a couple of pieces of 2x4lk with holes drilled in them and shafts stuck in them to set up a station that would help him get the club up onto the plane in the takeaway and then have his hips stay deeper and drive more inward and to the left in the downswing rather than pushing out from under him in a classic “early extension” movement. Overall it’s a swing shape issue, and with Randall’s ability to sequence he could really improve if he could get the club more in front of him in the backswing and then maintain his hip depth and arc the club around to the left in the forward swing.
