If you go back and look at some of Phil’s previous lessons, you will see that he has improved his swing quite a bit. There a couple things I focus on here, including bracing in the right foot better and adding a bit of wrist cock to the backswing, but the main idea is to create more bend in the waist and upper body in both the backswing and the forward swing. If you start with a fairly erect posture as Phil does you are going to need to add bend in the backswing and in the forward swing. This is usually accomplished by keeping the hips deep and adding anterior bend to the pelvis, and Phil does a nice job of keeping the hips in the dtl box. What he is missing is pelvic bend and upper body spine angle, as his shoulder turn is quite flat, and he approaches impact with his arms out away from his body. I would like him to take a different approach and try to create more posture at address by lowering his hands, adding a touch of knee flex and adding bend from the waist, which tilts the pelvis down. I am hoping from a different set up (I compare him side by side with Charlie Hoffman) that he can increase his shoulder turn angle and maintain the bend that has at the start of the swing. His motion is excellent, and by staying bent over and sequencing better (aided by the braced right foot) I think he can keep improving.
