Jon has a powerful build and has the capability to produce a lot of speed, but he is held back by his lack of right arm width and his over reach with his right shoulder as he completes his backswing turn and the accompanying sequence issue when the upper body is pulled toward the target in transition before the hips have a chance to initiate the movement. If you haven’t noticed from countless website lesson posts these are quite common issues with fairly good players, sometimes young, sometimes older, who try the online lesson platform to get some ideas on how to elevate their ball striking to get their game to the next level. I realize that there are great players who appear to turn the right shoulder blade well behind them at the top, but these guys have obviously learned to get the right arm back into an approach to impact that makes them excellent strikers. In players like Jon the lack of width and the pullback of the right upper arm and shoulder drive the upper trunk over the lower and move the head toward the target out of its original box before his lower body shifts pressure from left to right. Jon needs to work on extending his right arm to P2, then feeling like he continues to move his hands away from him through P3 to P4. His next goal is a combination of keeping his head from moving too far forward and at the same time keeping his hips in the DTL box, as he has the tendency to come out from under himself.
