John and I have been working together successfully (almost exclusively online) for about 5 years now, and this lesson is from April when he was just coming back after missing a few months due to shoulder surgery. John has all the equipment anyone could need right in his basement, so we have been able to keep an eye on his swing on a regular basis. In this lesson we go over a lot of the things we have focused on since the beginning, and I side by side him with his favorite player, Tiger Woods. As many of us do when taking extended time off John has regressed a bit into his consistent problems, mostly that of dropping his hands behind him in transition. In this lesson I suggest a more athletic posture at address and more emphasis on rotation as the lower body changes direction, especially with the right leg. I’d like to see his right heel unweight quicker as he rotates his pelvis to start the forward swing instead of driving it more down with the ankle bending inward. This should free him up to use the ground more efficiently as he drives up into impact and into the follow through.
