I’ve known Jaime since he was in high school (that was a while ago), and I’m always proud when one of my former students becomes a highly respected teaching professional. Jaime, like I did in my prime, works hard on his game and would like to start seeing better results in his club professional tournaments. He has always had a nice swing, and here I make some simple suggestions to try out to see if we can get it to work better. I put him side by side with Charl Schwartzel, partly because of his grip (I think it’s one of the best I’ve seen) and partly because Schwartzel has such great posture, which I think would benefit Jaime to incorporate. I’d also like to see Jaime with more angle between the left arm and shaft at P3, not because I think everyone should do that but because Jaime is a “float loader” with delayed wrist cock all the way up to P4 after which he downcocks the club to an extreme degree. I’d like to see a more solid top of the swing position and a more controlled transition in the hope that along with the rest of the great things he does will give him more consistent ball striking.
