“Hi Wayne-
Here are 2 swings, fo [face on] and dtl [down the line], for my lesson follow-up for your review. Things that I was focusing on, based on your previous recommendations, were as follows:
FO:
In my setup -get my hips more centered rather than leaning left,
-play ball a little more forward rather than on my nose.
Felt like I was way behind the ball with a lot of weight on my right side.
At p2 get wider in the takeaway.
At p3 try to get wrist cock no more than 90deg.
Previous you mentioned my aggressive angle of attack and may need to shallow it a bit, hence setup adjustment.
DTL:
Your recommendations were to get more hip depth and free up right elbow and get left arm up higher.
I think I got the right elbow a little better via getting wider at p2. Regarding left arm higher
at p4 dtl, when I tried that I started lifting my hands independent of my shoulder turn, so I stopped
focusing on that for now, it’s a next project perhaps.
Re hip depth, that is going to take some work to get it down, I found it harder to get the depth in
the backswing than in the downswing it seemed. So, see what you think.
Looking forward to your comments.
Thanks, Victor Herak”
As you will see in the video Victor has done an excellent job of incorporating the suggestions I made in his previous online lesson. He has moved his ball position forward, centered his set-up, created more width in the backswing, reduced his wrist cock at P3, added depth to his hips, and reduced his angle of attack as a result. One important new suggestion is for Victor to keep his head out over the ball as he looks for more hip depth. It is not uncommon to start moving the upper body backwards away from the ball as you try to deepen the right hip but backing away causes posture loss and flattens the shoulder turn as well as the pelvis, which makes it more difficult to keep the right arm from sticking to the side of the body. I would like to see Victor’s right arm a touch higher at P3, which will happen if he stays out over the ball and feels his left shoulder move lower and continues to add width to the backswing.
