In this follow-up lesson video, you will see that Thomas has made some nice improvement in his technique based on our last lesson. His tendency to dip down and scoop under the ball has been mostly eliminated as he tries to stay taller and forward lean the shaft at impact. His face on look at impact is much better, but I would still like to see him get his hands more forward when the shaft is parallel to the ground in the forward swing so that he could use less of the bounce and achieve more consistently solid contact. To do this Thomas needs to increase his lateral movement in the forward swing, which is going to be hard to do if he sets up with so much of his body ahead of the ball at address. I advise Thomas to move the ball a bit forward in his stance so that it’s more centered, which would give him the opportunity to move more left without getting so far in front of the ball that he would over lean the club and be unable to get enough height out of the shot without that scooping action. I like a standard pitch to start with the ball centered and the pressure 60 left and 40 right. The pressure stays mostly like that in the backswing (especially for shorter shots), then shifting to almost totally on the left side at impact and the finish.
