In most online lessons I try to give the student more than a couple of things to work on, knowing that a follow-up within 2 weeks is not going to show every item addressed and/or changed. Golf swings are complicated, and if I were sending in my own swings for advice, I wouldn’t want that advice to be over simplified. In Jon’s case I gave him too much information to process in such a short period of time, but the follow-up is crucial (just as taking consistent face to face lessons is crucial) as here we can see what the most stubborn habits are to change and what items will need more focus and attention going forward. As I mention in the title, swing triggers are tough to change, and it takes a while to either replace it or quiet it down. Jon has lessened his tendency to tighten and lift in the takeaway, but the trigger is still there, and it would help to continue to work on it. My advice to steepen the shoulder turn and to get more width and height for the right arm while making the left arm angle at the top more vertical is an entire shape change and is another thing that will take time. I like that Jon included some rehearsals here, and I compare the rehearsals to his actual swing, something that would benefit everyone. What has improved the most is Jon’s hip rotation in the forward swing, which is significantly quicker than it was in his previous swings.
