Dan is obviously a strong young man and a good athlete, and he already has a nice swing, but as in almost every case there are a few things that I believe could benefit his consistency. My first bit of advice is to try to maintain constant grip pressure just before the takeaway. Having the grip reset as a trigger can be problematic as it won’t always end up in the same place. Dan has some excessive hip slide to the right in the backswing, and while I like right -loading I’d like to see him square up his right foot and focus on keeping his hips “in the box” from the face on view. Another address change that could be of benefit would be for him to bend a bit more from the hips and get his weight more forward onto the balls of his feet. This would help him stay deeper in the downswing and would also help him find his balance at the finish, which he needs to hold better without falling backwards. I like to have players keep their pressure all the way over on the left leg at the end of the swing while letting their arms relax, like you’ll see most Tour players do.
