Lesson of the Week: Jaime Kilmer, PGA – Stop Crossing the Line

By Wayne | Videos: Lesson of the Week

Jaime is the PGA Head Professional at the Wheatley Hills Golf Club on Long Island, New York, and a good friend of long time Wayne D. website member and student Peter Procops. Jaime has been working hard and having children the last 10 years or so, and his game has suffered from a lack of practice and competition. He has had some good results in the past, however, and is anxious to get his game back in shape and return to tournament play. This video comprises two lessons given 4 days apart, and it is interesting, as always, to see how much change was made after the first lesson, and how the second lesson reinforced the first and introduced a few new concepts. My main goal after seeing Jaime’s swing for the first time was to improve his posture and to get his club on plane in the backswing instead of crossing the line, which I feel unnecessarily complicates the swing and can be an annoyingly difficult habit to break. We did a lot of work with opening the clubface in the backswing while trying to avoid overusing the right shoulder and upper arm, and the results were encouraging.
