From The Vault: Wayne D. at the 1999 PGA with John Cook, Mark O’Meara and David Duval

My best buddy and caddy for the 1999 PGA, Mark Diamond, had the great idea to put my camera in the bag, and when I teed it up at 6:30 AM with John Cook, Mark O’Meara and late arrival David Duval for a Wednesday practice round we were able to capture a great memory. I actually played very well that day, making 4 birdies on the first 12 holes, but alas none of them mattered as my partner, Duval, was already in the hole and on his way to shooting 8 under for the first 13. We lost the match anyway as Mark and John ham and egged it for 9 under, but it was a great experience and I’ll never forget the amazing level of play that Duval exhibited that day. Years later, when he was in the midst of a slump that would pretty much last forever, I offered to give David a copy of the tape, but he wasn’t really interested. Go figure.
