Wayne,

Thought you might like to know that Ryan has signed a letter of intent to play golf at Cameron University in Oklahoma. They are a D2 power having made the NCAA D2 championships something like 5 out of the last 10 years.

Ryan won his district championships by 11 strokes and in 8 tournaments this spring his worst finish is 4th, with 3 wins and 2 runner up finishes.

He is killing the ball. Takeaway right up the plane and although not perfectly square at the top, he’s not closed anymore. Most importantly he’s bought into the compression deal. He’s always had great tempo, now with the focus on the speed coming from the midsection and his legs using the ground for leverage, he has scary good tempo and is killing the ball.
He’s at the Texas Regional championships this Monday and Tuesday and we’re hopeful he’ll make it through to the state finals. He should if he just stays calm.
One thing we’ve worked on mentally is the idea that no matter what the result of the shot, he’s accepted the outcome beforehand. The only focus is on making a good swing, not the result. That seems to be a breakthrough for him as he had a tendency to get tight and not complete his backswing leading to an over the top move. That hasn’t happened in the last few weeks. The money we spent with you for the online lessons has turned out to be an outstanding investment and we thank you for that. I’d like for you to have another look at his swing soon, maybe in the next couple of weeks. he has three big qualifiers coming up in the next 6 weeks, USGA pub links, Texas open, and Texas am, so he’ll continue to work after his high school days come to an end. We signed up for your on line club and will remain members as I have a few more kids in the pipeline.
Thanks,

Don Mahaffey
