In this “Basement Tapes” video lecture series I go into more detail regarding three areas of the swing that I often see golfers struggle with. The detail is to help you achieve a better understanding of the movements greatly increasing your chance of success. The first video (today): “Three Takeaway Options” covers the One Piece Takeaway, The Right Forearm Takeaway, The Reactive Trigger Handle Drag Takeaway and how to perform each. The three takeaways are presented so you can try each of them to determine which one works best for you. The second video (Wednesday): “Right Arm and Shoulder” goes into detail regarding how the right arm and shoulder function during the swing. I show how golfers often overdo it, the correct way to determine the proper length of the back-swing based on left shoulder mobility and tips to move your right arm and shoulder more effectively. The third video (Friday): “The Transition and Downswing” covers in detail how to achieve the highly desirable flat-to-steep transition and how to move from flat-to-steep into the downswing setting up the best position to deliver high quality impact. In all three videos I demonstrate the movements while connecting them with their respective definitions such as extensor action, supination, pronation, etc. Understanding the content in these three videos will greatly increase your chance to perform the movements needed to achieve an elite level golf swing.
Increasingly, I’m seeing problems with students starting the club on plane at the beginning of the backswing. The start of the swing sets up the rest of the backswing which in turn affects the transition and downswing. Each part of the swing builds off the previous part so if you begin your swing poorly you’re playing a game of catch-up right from the start and that’s a difficult game to win. What seems like such a simple movement is actually more complicated than one would imagine, but I’m here to help. In this lecture I cover what you want to do as well as what to avoid. Master one of these three takeaways and set yourself up for success.
