I wanted to wish all the members and other subscribers to WayneDeFrancesco.com Happy Holidays, and thank every one of you for taking the time to watch and listen to my posts. The game has played a huge roll in my life, and I find it fulfilling to be able to share my knowledge and experience with more than just the people who come to me for in person lessons. By now you should have figured out that I don’t even attempt to sugarcoat the fact that it is a difficult game, and that there are no magic methods or easy shortcuts to being a better player. I figure that honesty is the best policy, and I try to stay consistent with my lessons and my swing analysis, applying what I have learned over the years as well as things that I learn on a daily basis from working with all levels of players and on my own game as well.
The truth of the matter is that I have been addicted to winning since I was 13 and came away with my first trophy. There are many ways to emerge victorious in a competition, and certainly high level ball striking gives any player an advantage (although no guarantee) when the final scores are tallied. Of course, any time you play you have to deal with all segments of the game, and I feel like we cover the bases at the website to give you the best opportunity to learn and improve. I came very close to retiring from competition this year, but looking back I would say that having the website and wishing to give my best to the subscribers played a big part in my commitment to improving my physical state instead of giving up and calling it quits. I feel that I still have some good golf yet to play, and my attempts to get back to playing better are in many respects just like the struggles that almost all of the website members are going through as well. I know that I will be in a much better position to help others as I continue to try to help myself.
I think it is fair to say that after studying the swings of the greats I have found that there are only a few things that you will never find a great player doing. This leaves us with huge variations as to what we might consider “correct”. In fact, it’s almost like you can do anything you want as long as it works. Players who are already great rarely bother to ask the question “how do I do this?” Players who are seeking to get better, however, almost always ask “what should I do?” I am continually developing my preferences for what I consider to be the best ways to go about approaching the game, hitting the ball, and getting the ball into the hole, and that information is what I will continue to offer in the new year.
So, once again, thank you all for being with us, Merry Christmas and happy holidays, and best wishes for the New Year.
