I’m always encouraging everyone to test their swing and game in competition so here’s a great chance to do just that. Phil has been a long time member of the web site who has also taken a number of online and in-person lessons so when he told me about a tournament he put together I thought it would be a great idea to post it on the site. We’re setting a forum post too so you can ask Phil any questions you might have as well as a link to his tournament web site.

The inaugural Myrtle Beach Amateur Championship will be played on the King’s North Course at Myrtle Beach National, September 8-10, 2017. It’s purpose is to provide an opportunity for competitive golf to amateur golfers in the Myrtle Beach area and beyond, and to identify the Myrtle Beach Amateur Champion!
ELIGIBILITY: Entries are open to all amateur golfers ages 16 and up. There is no residency requirement and players from outside the Myrtle Beach area are welcome to participate.
FORMAT: 54 holes gross medal play. Players can enter into mens or ladies Open, Senior, or Super-Senior Divisions. The field will be flighted after the second round based on total score.
FIELD: Entry fee is $184. The first 125 received entries will be entered into the event.
ENTRY DEADLINE: Entries close at 5PM on August 28, 2017
AWARDS/PRIZES: Gift certificate prizes will be awarded to the top players in each flight (roughly 30 percent of the field). Trophies will be awarded to the winner and runner-up in each division.
TEES/COURSE SETUP: The Open Division will play from approximately 6600-6800 yards, while the Senior and Super-Senior Divisions will play from approximately 6000-6200 yards. Ladies yardages TBD. Final course setup will be determined based on weather and current course conditions.
PRACTICE ROUNDS: Practice rounds are available at a rate of $45. Please contact the golf shop no more than 7 days in advance to arrange a practice round.
WITHDRAWALS: Players withdrawing before 5PM on Friday, September 1 will receive a full refund.
