I find it mind-boggling that Johnny Miller is the most popular announcer in televised golf. I ask people why they like him and the usual answer is ‘he tells it like it is”, or “he says what’s on his mind”. OK, I get that, but what if he is telling it like it isn’t, or if what’s on his mind is some ridiculous notion about the golf swing or about a shot some player just hit that he can’t possibly back up with any visual evidence. The fact is, he says stupid stuff all the time, and no one ever calls him on it. In this clip Brad Faxon makes a telling observation about Robert Allenby’s swing, and Johnny follows immediately by completely, and seemingly unknowingly, contradicting everything Faxon has just said.
