Derek was playing the mini-tours a couple years ago when he found me down in Florida, and we worked a few times to try to improve his ball striking, which was pretty good but not good enough to shoot the kinds of scores needed to make money playing. Derek tended to get his right arm behind him in the backswing due a combination of twisting his right hip toward the target and shutting the face in the takeaway. At impact his right arm had to straighten early, and the result was a bit of a flippy release and inconsistent striking. Derek took some time off and is now wanting to get back to playing, and during the time away he stayed a member of the website and in this video you will see how he has incorporated quite a few of the recent lessons and swing analysis’ I have posted. The biggest difference you will see is in Derek’s shaft position at the top, which has gone from well across the line to almost laid off, with his right upper arm now in way better position. After this is posted I expect Derek to post on the forum what he has done to accomplish such major changes.
