Brandon has made some significant changes in his swing so far, and now is in position to make a major breakthrough in his technique. There wasn’t much he could about getting his right arm to move the right way and his hands more forward at impact until he got rid of some of his movement off the ball into a tilted back position as he approached the top of his swing. Now that he has stayed relatively more centered over the ball he should be able to use the sidearm throwing analogy and begin to lean the shaft more forward approaching impact. Alas, one good thing does not lead directly to the next, so Brandon, as I point out in the video, will need to focus intently on transition, specifically on using the 45 degree push of the lower body off the inside of the right foot to “catch” the upper trunk and arms and move the hands outward while the club leans back on the right index finger. The shallowing shaft, combined with the more forceful lateral and rotational move of the legs and hips, should allow his right arm to move more in front of his chest while his hands maintain more of the initial lag attained in the start down. Retaining this lag longer will allow his hands to get more forward before the club hits the ball, while the “out” move will create a path whereby the hands and arms will move freely around the body and exit on plane (which most people call “swinging left”).
