I want to thank everyone who followed my exploits and sent in your well-wishes as I battled away at the Senior PGA up in Michigan last week. I can only tell you that there are a lot of good players out there, and the scores after 36 holes indicate just what a test the course was as well as how good the top guys are playing. I had a first -hand look at some of those top players, teeing it with Bobby Clampett, Brad Faxon, Dick Mast, Tom Kite, Fred Funk, and Jay Don Blake as well as two of the best senior club pros around in Billy Britton and Kirk Hanefeld. All in all I feel as though my game held up fairly well and I believe the experience will help me play better as the year progresses. The elements of the swing I have been working on myself, teaching to others, and sharing with the website are starting to coalesce into a workable whole. I finally felt, in the second round, that I could actually attack the course and hit good shots instead of waiting anxiously for a bad one.
Anyway, it’s on to US Senior Open qualifying June 18th in New Jersey, then the PGA PNC (Professional National Championship, formerly known as the CPC) the following week. I am looking forward to the challenge.
