Body Pivot Compression; Downswing: This is the movement that keeps the arms from swinging “over the top”, due to the fact that the lower body initiates before the upper trunk and arms have completed the backward motion. The essential elements of the movement are back, forward and around, and the way we look at that will probably be very different than you have thought of it in the past. The further compression of the body into the ground provides a tremendous base for thrusting upward into the ball, which promotes a powerful approach to impact both in a descending blow like the irons, or an ascending blow like the driver.
