Online Students: John Lamendola 12

By J | Videos: Online Students

John has been a consistent online lesson taker (along with 3 face -to -face lessons) and has shown remarkable improvement in his technique and in the results he has achieved on the golf course. He has the good fortune to have a basement studio with all sorts of useful technology, which makes processing and practicing the suggestions I make over the internet much easier. It’s not that John had a horrible swing to begin with: most of the work we have done is advanced in that the differences, while major in feel, are subtle to the naked eye. For a long while we worked toward eliminating a pronounced hand drop and right arm pull back in transition, and when he overcame that tendency we were able to focus on changing his entire pattern of pivot movement. We still see the knees move toward the ball in transition, and in this video, I focus on John’s foot pressure, asking him to concentrate more keenly on keeping the brace on the inside of the right foot so that the reversal of pelvic rotation from clockwise to counter-clockwise can be done more efficiently and the legs can open in a more timely fashion. I also suggest more wrist set between P2 and P3 (click here for swing positions description), which when combined with more right arm extensor action should continue to widen up his top of the swing position and create more usable coil which in turn will hopefully lead to more clubhead speed.
