Swing Analysis: Ricky Fowler from 2010 to 2017

In this video, I look at Ricky Fowler’s swing and the changes he has made from his first full year on Tour (2010) to this year. He is having an excellent 2017, having won the Honda along with 2 other top 10’s in his first 5 events, after having what was for him an off year in 2016. Fowler played nicely from 2010 to 2012, but slipped a bit in 2013 and sought out the help of Butch Harmon in the off season. He came out in 2014 with a completely overhauled swing, one that featured a much more conventional shaft movement from the takeaway all through the rest of the swing. I wondered how much of the changes would stick, and certainly by the summer he had gone back to a version of his old swing while retaining some of the important changes. He finished in the top 5 in every major that year and had a breakout season, finishing 9th in the Fed Ex Cup standings and winning almost 5 million dollars. I take a swing from the British Open that year and compare it to the swing from earlier in the year, and the differences are obvious, as is the major difference between that swing and the 2010 version. Then we jump to 2017 and see that he has continued to modify things. All in all, one of the most interesting swings on Tour.
