Swing Analysis: Matt Kuchar 2016

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

This was a fun one to do because it is rare to see obvious changes to a Tour player’s golf swing. Kuchar has gone from an idiosyncratic backswing that was as deep and behind him as anyone on tour to one where the hands, arms and club stay much more in front of his body. Much of this is accomplished by the combination of up-cocking the left wrist in the takeaway, moving the upper right arm more upward and away from the body than in the past, and restricting his lower body rotation in the backswing.

Swing Analysis: The “Hands-Out Move” Dominates the Tour

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

I like to go through the TV telecasts that I DVR, pick the interesting swings and load them onto my camera, then load them onto my computer and into my V1, then go through and attach names to them, and then (finally) watch all of them to figure out what kind of video I am going to do. You can go back to Nicklaus and Hogan and see the same diversity. That said, we wouldn’t be bothering to look at these swings if the players employing them weren’t highly successful. You have to get to the ball and control it,…

Hand Movement From the Top of the Swing: A Look at the Top 20 Golf Players in the World Rankings

By Wayne | Videos: Swing Analysis

The entire purpose of this video is to record observations of a particular part of the swing as practiced by the top 20 players (according to the “World Rankings”). Too many acceptable variations are castigated by TV announcers who have not done their homework when it comes to knowing what the best players do. Video swing analysis is a powerful tool when it comes to teaching a player how to improve his or her swing.
